BEST SFIC Cores and Combinator – Serial #5

The earliest manufactured BEST small format interchangeable cores (SFIC), patented in 1921, revolutionized keying systems with their modular design and compatibility across multiple lock types. The BEST key combinator was developed to ensure exceptional accuracy in cutting key blanks and featured a tip stop to align precisely with the SFIC key system. Together, these innovations set new industry standards for precision and adaptability – principles that continue to influence BHMA mechanical keying specifications today.
